So I haven’t really seen to many musicals. Obviously I’ve seen Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Hairspray. That’s about it though. I haven’t really seen anything that has honestly caught my interest. My best friend heard that I was making book blogs. Which I’m still working on. But she decided that I should start a musical blog to bring awareness.
How the hell am I gonna do that when I only know four??? Well, she started to list a few musical movies that I should watch and that I should blog about. So I guess I’m starting there. Amateur, I know. But hey we all started as amateurs at one point. Not that anyone takes my opinion seriously anyways.
The four that I have seen are musicals that I would recommend to anyone. Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera and The Rocky Horror Picture Show are all horror based musicals which honestly are not as bad as they sounds. Give them a try and you’ll see what I mean. Sweeney Todd and Phantom of the Opera have that tragedy romance things going on, which I warn, will break your heart into itty bitty pieces. And The Rocky Horror Picture Show is more of a horror comedy. It’s very out there and I’ll admit I had to watch it at least 2 times before I understood what was going on. If you like out of the box type of movies, this one is a definite must.
Hairspray on the other hand is more of a high school romance that centers around the history of segregation. It’s fun and bubbly but underneath all that you see the injustice and mistreatment of African Americans and heavy set women. The tunes are catch and the story is just amazing. Definitely, you gotta see this.
Well that’s all I have to say for now. I’ll make better reviews on musicals as I see them when I see them. For now check out the four that I have mentioned and let me know what you think about them. Love them? Hate them? Interested in more? Let’s here your opinions.
