Students Get Their Heads in the Game to Fight Cancer, Break Record

LAKEWOOD, Ohio–Students and staff at a Lakewood high school unofficially broke a Guinness world record Friday while raising money for cancer research.

Clippers were working non-stop in the Saint Edward High School gym Friday afternoon as more than 460 students and staff gathered for “Clips for Cancer.”

Students and staff at the all-boys Lakewood school shaved their heads so they could attempt to beat the Guinness world record of 381 heads shaved in one hour set back in 2012.

“Clips for Cancer is a great event where the whole school becomes united and we all show our support for the fight against childhood cancer,” said Danny McManamon, a student at St. Edward.

During the event, organizers were able to raise more than $10,000 for St. Baldrick’s who supports pediatric cancer research.
